Vāk means language, our whole universe shines into it, our whole being. She is the great goddess, the fullness of the Lord, His power and movement. Abhinavagupta calls the highest form of speech "the sound of pure reflection of consciousness", which consists of the pure reflection of one's existence as "I". This is also the central statement of Shivaism: śivo'ham"I am Śiva!". Identification with Śiva, the One Consciousness, which consists of the fullness of the sounds of the Sanskrit alphabet, beginning withaand ending withH. This forms the most important mantras of our school,ah-am, "I".
The topic here concerns the handling of sound and language in Kashmiri Shaivism. Especially the metaphysics of the Sanskrit alphabet, as well as the teaching of the spiritual articulation of mantra. We learn and practice both, and in the sound exercises of the rich tantric literature we move higher and higher, to finer subjectivity and let the goddess, the language, shine fully. The philosophy explains the process.
The recordings are an open invitation to anyone wishing to experience the breath and voice as the radiant self within the authenticity of the tantras, and are suitable for anyone wishing to deepen their own practice.
